Terrain Crafting Paint Choices

This is a list of the paints and techniques I use for the terrain I craft for my own uses. I highly suggest everyone who crafts terrain make their own list, or use mine, so their work remains consistent.

Most of the paint I use for terrain is the cheapest paint I can find at Walmart. I’ve found that Micheal’s has a better selection at a slightly higher price, so if I can’t find what I want at Walmart I’ll go there.

Grass / Forest

1. Start with a base coat of Arbor Green
2. Then do a light sponging of Nutmeg Brown
3. Finish with a dry-brushing of Spring Green

Water

1. Base coat of Cobalt Hue
2. Light sponging of Aquamarine
3. Dry-brush Blue Cotton

Dungeon / Walls / Stonework

1. Base coat of Pavement
2. Light sponging of Nutmeg Brown
3. Dry-brush Granite Gray

Ice

1. Base coat of Turquoise
2. Light sponging of Granite Gray
3. Dry-brush Blue Cotton
4. Light dry-brush White

Fire / Lava

1. Base coat of Bright Red
2. Light sponge of Jack-o-Lantern Orange
3. Dry-brush Sunny Day (yellow)

Feywild

1. Base coat of Arbor Green
2. Light sponge of Nutmeg Brown
3. Dry-brush Spring Green
4. Stipple randomly all over Bright Red, Petunia Purple, and Sunny Day

Underdark

1. Base coat of Pavement
2. Light sponging of Nutmeg Brown
3. Dry-brush Granite Gray
4. Light stippling of various fluorescent and/or glow in the dark colors

Desert

1. Base coat of Khaki
2. Medium sponging of Golden Sunset
