D&D Beginners Resource: Handbooker Helper
Critical Role has given the hobby hundreds of hours of high-craft play. Matt Mercer and the cast are deservedly famous—but I can’t recommend their main campaigns to my students. There’s far too much adult content. Parents: don’t hand kids those episodes unless you’ve vetted them and are comfortable with what you’ll find.
Fortunately, the same crew made a clean, professional series new players can use: Handbooker Helper. Short videos, each focused on one piece of play.
Skip the pure intro if you want. The next block of videos covers fundamentals every player should know—if even one of those topics is fuzzy, the game (and the fun) suffers. Later videos are class- or topic-specific; watch the ones that match your character, and save the rest for later.
Binge them, or take one at a time with a pause to absorb. Either way, you get a playlist you can share with any new player who needs a friendly on-ramp.
